Ammonium Tartaricum Homeopathy

The homeopathic medicine Ammonium tartaricum is prepared from the tartrate of Ammonia, the ammonium salt of tartaric acid, by diluting it with distilled water. Ammonium tartrate is used mainly in the fields of cell culture and chromatography but also widely used in the field of pharmaceuticals such as in the production of effervescent salts, as a coating in oral medications along with citric acid and also in the cough syrups as an expectorant.

Ammonium Tartaricum Uses

Ammonium tartaricum mainly acts on the mucus membranes especially of the gastrointestinal system and respiratory system. The most characteristic symptom of Ammonium tartaricum is the irritation of the mucus linings with redness and swelling. Some of the indications of this remedy are as follows:

• Headache characterized by pain in the head with nausea and watering from eyes.

• General weakness of the body accompanied by dizziness.

• Irritation of eyes with redness and burning as of smoke or fumes. Burning pain in the eyes with profuse tears.

• Cough with irritation and congestion of the throat. Sore throat with redness and weakness. Cough with excessive phlegm formation but it cannot be hawked up.

• Pain and irritation in the stomach along with vomiting and diarrhea. Persistent nausea with weakness of the abdomen.

• Redness and irritation of the skin. The skin looks red and inflamed with a burning sensation. The skin appears bluish or purplish.

Dosage & Directions for Use

It is to be taken as an internal medicine. Please note that the dosage of single homoeopathic medicines varies from drug to drug depending upon the condition, age, sensitivity and other things. In some cases they are given as regular doses as 3-5 drops 2-3 times a day whereas in other cases they are given only once a week, month or even in a longer period.
