Indications

Ilex aquifolium , commonly known as Holly, is a homoeopathic medicine prepared from the fresh leaves, berries, and young shoots of the plant- Ilex aquifolium sourced from Aquifoliaceae family. This medicine exhibits a powerful influence on the gastrointestinal system, liver, spleen, eyes, and urinary tract. Traditionally used for its antiperiodic and anti-inflammatory properties, Ilex aquifolium is reputed to be comparable to Cinchona in the management of intermittent fever conditions. It is also indicated in cases involving mucous diarrhoea, jaundice, rheumatic eye inflammations, and spleen pain, with a peculiar improvement of symptoms during the winter season. This makes it suitable for chronic conditions that worsen in warmer weather or have periodic relapses. Common Name:  Holly SBL’s Ilex aquifolium can be helpful in the following conditions: Intermittent Fever Acts as a useful support in the management of intermittent fever. Particularly beneficial where periodic fever is accompanied by spleen pain or digestive disturbances. Suitable in fevers with seasonal recurrence, especially those showing marked winter amelioration. Jaundice and Intestinal Catarrhal Supports in jaundice, especially with sluggish liver function and associated digestive complaints. Aids in mucous diarrhoea, indicating its role in intestinal catarrh or possible psilosis (sprue). Helpful in conditions involving colic or abdominal discomfort from hepatic or splenic origin. Eye and Orbital Inflammation Particularly useful in rheumatic inflammation of the eyes, especially with associated periostitis of the frontal bone. Indicated in cases with staphyloma, a condition of abnormal protrusion of uveal tissue in eyeball, corneal degeneration, or chronic eye infiltration. Beneficial for burning orbital pain at night, even in long-standing, difficult eye cases. Spleen Affections Assists in managing spleen pain, especially where there is a history of fever, or chronic congestion. Prostate Irritability Aids in prostatic irritation, particularly with constant urethral dripping or sensation of irritation in the urinary tract. Musculoskeletal and Rheumatic Affections Also include assistment of rheumatism, pleurisy, and gout. Suitable for systemic inflammatory complaints, especially when aggravated in warm weather.
