Indications

Rhus glabra , also known as Smooth Sumach or Pennsylvania Sumach, is a homoeopathic medicine derived from the fresh bark, root, or berries of the plant. Native to North America and typically found in rocky or barren soils, it belongs to the Anacardiaceae family. This medicine is particularly valuable in conditions marked by ulceration, putrescence, and offensive discharges, including fetid flatus and stools. Rhus glabra is also recognized for addressing epistaxis with occipital headache, ulceration of the mouth, profuse, debilitating perspiration (similar to China ), and vivid dreams of flying (like Sticta ), making it useful in states of systemic weakness and mucosal degeneration. Sharp, cutting abdominal pain, especially around the umbilical region. Loss of appetite or extreme hunger without the ability to eat, accompanied by stomach discomfort with great restlessness that worsens after eating or drinking. Fetid flatus and offensive stools, with a reputation for neutralizing intestinal putrescence • Mouth and Throat Affections Indicated in painful mouth ulcers, especially near the bicuspids. Ulceration of the mouth with bleeding and a flat, alkaline taste. Bleeding from the throat, sometimes upon waking, with expulsion of blood clots. Persistent aftertaste of the medicine and a white-coated tongue. • Hemorrhagic Conditions Useful in epistaxis, especially from the left nostril, often accompanied by occipital headache. Also indicated in minor mucosal bleeding from the mouth or throat. • Mental Dullness For individuals with mental dullness, forgetfulness, and indifference to surroundings. Distaste for company, low emotional engagement. Disturbed sleep with vivid, floating or flying dreams. • Headaches Dull, heavy occipital headache, especially worse on waking but relieved by exercise. Often accompanies general weakness or nasal bleeding. • Urinary Issues Scanty, dark urine, often seen with systemic debility or digestive imbalance. • General Debility and Fatigue Pronounced exhaustion and fatigue, especially in the lower limbs, with difficulty standing.
